The Golden Globes are like the warm-up act for that legendary band you go to see in concert. Everyone is eagerly anticipating the headliner but the opening act doesn’t care and puts on a show as good as, if not better than, the more famous group.

Last night’s Golden Globes proved its pep over the Academy Awards. As awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, they awarded 12 Years A Slave the prize for Best Motion Picture, Drama. The companion Comedy or Musical award went to American Hustle.

No single film dominated the night as the HFPA spread the love equally. In fact, the "big" win by 12 Years A Slave came after a 0 for 6 slump before it hit the show-ending home run. (I'm introducing too many metaphors here, aren't I?)

Back again were hilarious hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Their jokes stole the show. In case you missed it, here is their opening monologue. I will warn that the audio here is horrendous despite being the official NBC videos. It helps if you turn the volume up all the way.

Perhaps the most talked about segment was Jacqueline Bisset's awkward acceptance speech after winning Best Supporting Actress, Series, Mini-Series, or TV Movie for Dancing on the Edge. (Again, the audio sucks.)
