OK, I get it. June the Fourth doesn't quite roll off the tongue as nicely as May the Fourth does, but I think it gets the point across. Besides, who cares what the headline says? You're just here for the last month's worth of Star Wars news. I don't blame you, it's been a crazy month.

The fun thing with having a new Star Wars movie come out each year is that there is always news popping up from a variety of sources. So, let's not waste any more time and get to it, shall we?

  • The biggest news to hit the Star Wars universe this month just leaked this week. We all know that Star Wars: Rogue One is due out later this year and is the first stand-alone anthology film that Disney hopes will fill the Star Wars lust in between main trilogy films.

The news dropped that the film would be undergoing reshoots in the coming months. You could literally hear the collective gasps of every Star Wars nerd on the Internet when the news hit.

Disney was quick to point out that reshoots are common with any film these days and the main reason for them was to help the film match the jovial tone of the original film that came out in 1977. Apparently, Rogue One ends about 10 minutes before the events of A New Hope.

While I will reserve judgment until I actually see the film, I was actually looking forward to a different, darker take on the films. I mean isn't that the whole point of having anthology films, to have them present various types of stories within the larger Star Wars universe?

I liked the Rogue One trailer and thought the tone was dead on, so I guess we will see in December. Disney officials made it clear that they don't expect the reshoots to delay the release date.

  • Probably the second biggest news to hit the web in the last month would have to be the launch of "The Star Wars Show." It's a weekly web video series direct from Lucas Film and so far, they have showcased news and leaked some rather interesting information.

What are you waiting for? Catch the premiere episode below and get caught up already.

  • If you have been living in a cave these last weeks, then it's possible that you may have missed "Chewbacca Mom," but I doubt it. She literally became the latest hot Internet meme and I'm not sure we will ever see the end of it. In a nutshell, she put on a Chewbacca mask and couldn't stop laughing.

Here is an awesome stop she made on the James Corden show.

  • This site created one massive image that tells the entire story of A New Hope. Yes, it's awesome and yes, they got the whole Greedo thing right.
  • Finally, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unearthed this gem. Apparently this is one of the first trailers for Return of the Jedi. You know, back when it was called Revenge of the Jedi.

So, what do you think? Is this monthly recap worth reading? What stuff would you rather see covered. I'm trying to avoid covering the spoilery stuff about a certain film that recently wrapped up filming in Ireland, but if there's demand for it, I can always add a tidbit or two.
