Perhaps you are one of those people who gets all their holiday shopping prior to Dec. 1. Or, maybe you're more like me. I'm the kind who waits until the movies and shows on TV get me in the mood -- if A Charlie Brown Christmas hasn't played on TV, it ain't the holidays.
Regardless your type, The A.V. Club's list of 15 terrible presents in TV and film is a treat everyone can enjoy. Their panel of authors highlight the horrors of gift-giving, showcasing some of the worst ever exchanged.
Below are their selections 10 through one. You can see the complete list, along with their always witty commentary, on the site.
- An iPod in The Office (Season 2, Episode 10)
- A bowling ball in The Simpsons (Season 1, Episode 9)
- The "To My Best Bud" bracelet in Friends (Season 2, Episode 14)
- A cashmere sweater in Seinfeld (Season 3, Episode 12)
- Red Ryder BB gun in A Christmas Story
- A pen, Say Anything...
- TV dinners, et al in Better Off Dead
- A television, All That Heaven Allows
- Chucky, Child's Play
- The Mogwai, Gremlins
Remember this list when you get some real stinkers as gifts this holiday season. At least the present didn't try to murder you.
Let us know if there are any movie or TV presents that The A.V. Club forgot. I, for one, can't believe they left out the Jelly of the Month Club.
