Tomboy Mickey Kelly is trying to kindle a romance between her father and pretty next-door-neighbor Louise Williams, who has fled the big city with broken heart. But wealthy and influential Lydia Matthews plans to be the next Mrs. Kelly. When things don't go her way, Lydia is perfectly willing to create a scandal that will destroy Mickey's and her father's reputations forever.
This delightful but rarely-seen coming-of-age story introduces pretty golden-voiced Lois Butler as Mickey in her first starring role. Eagle-Lion Films planned to make the pretty teen a star, but she soon eschewed Hollywood for marriage and motherhood, marrying Hall Bartlett, who would go on to produce Jonathan Livingston Seagull. Based on the novel "Clementine" by Peggy Goodwin, this film is also notable for being one of the final screen roles for Academy winner Hattie McDaniel (Gone With The Wind, 1939), the first African-American to bring home an Oscar.
