Inspired by actual events, The Listening offers a chilling glimpse into the modern cult of surveillance, and examines the lengths to which the government will go to protect their secrets.
Wendell-Crenshaw Technologies, a high tech start-up corporation, has just unveiled a new surveillance system, designed for the National Security Agency, that allows the government to tap into any phone in the world-without warrants or warning. When classified information regarding the technology falls into the hands of an innocent Italian woman, she becomes a target of deadly pursuit. James Wagley (Michael Parks), a NSA operative, compromises his job and launches a plan to expose the technology in order to save her life. But, when it comes to industrial espionage, it is only a matter of time before they are discovered.
